Ways of Making Bill Payments Using Your Mobile Phone
Mobile transactions have made payments convenient and seamless. Several mobile payment platforms have emerged over the years making day-to-day transactions easy and secure from our mobile devices.
Today, there are four primary models for mobile payments, they are:
- SMS based transactional payments – This is great for making payments in the absence of smartphones. All that is needed is a phone with the capacity of receiving SMS.
- Direct Mobile Billing – This requires integration with mobile network operators.
- Mobile web payments (WAP) – This is simply using a Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) facility with your smartphone by connecting to the internet to make use of online wallets such as Yahoo wallet, Google Checkout, Amazon Payments, or PayPal.
- Contactless NFC (Near Field Communication) -This involves a more direct and almost instantaneous data transfer between phones or phones and point of sale devices.
NFC phones and NFC enabled points of sale devices transfer information, i.e. money, using radio frequency identification.
